The Airport and The Environment: Airport Construction

Hello again readers!

    In today’s module I will be discussing two factors that affects the environment around the airport. And what can be done to resolve this issue.

    It is known that airport construction is one of the environmental impacts in the surrounding area. This is because the airport requires a large amount of land to properly operate. A small airport takes up almost hundred acres of land, so what more if it was for commercial transport? The reality is, aviation has been essential to people’s daily lives, whether it be for tourism or business, but at what cost can this lead to having to create an airport? (Johnson 2018). An airport can take up spaces that could be meant for housing and other necessary infrastructure, this also leads to deforestation depending on the location of the airport being constructed (Johnson 2018).  Having a large airport also means creating a pathway to get there like highways and roads, this increases the size of area that can affect the local population because of the creation of a new airport, or expanding a built airport (Johnson 2018).


    We all know that creating an airport or expanding one, affects the livelihood of people, but what about our furry friends? this also takes a toll on them considering that we are technically invading their homes. So how can we resolve this issue? Rehoming them is the only solution in this situation, exterminating them is NOT AN OPTION. Not only the land creatures will be affected, but also the marine life near lakes or oceans (FAA n.d). Constructing an airport also has multiple emissions that ruins the water quality because of construction equipment being leaky or having hazardous waste discharge. The main solution to this is having a waste water and sewage plant, as well as drainage systems and grease separator systems, as well as having a ground water quality monitor to check for contaminated water that is being discharged in the ocean (Johnson 2018). 

    In conclusion to this blog, Aviation is an important mode of transportation for people, heck it is also a hobby that a lot of us take. But we need to also think about the surrounding area of the location and what negative impacts that could occur.

 Hello again my readers!        In this module blog I will be talking about the team based human factor challenges that can come across in the Aviation Maintenance side of the house.             In my understanding of human factors this is a psychological and physical constraints of the human body and mind. Having a negative human factor could result in creating a human error which could result a fatal error. It is said that 80 percent of the aviation maintenance incidents are caused by human error by installing components wrong or there were damages during the installation (Schossler 2019).
